The Truth Behind the Well-Being of an Individual

When talking about a person’s well-being, some people view it only as a single state of functionality or efficient of an individual. However, the physical condition of a person is only one aspect of his or her well-being. It is a misconception that wellness is only in the physical state of someone. To clarify, the World Health Organization defined the well-being of an individual as constituting more than just the physical condition of a person but rather his or her mental, emotional, and social aspects as well. One’s well-being is not entrapped in the absence of a disease.

Improving Your Well-being in a Holistic Approach

In order to protect your well-being as well as sustain and improve it, you need to focus not just your physical aspect. Note that all that manifest in your physical wellness is a reflection of what happens inside your body and other aspects of it. If your mental wellness suffers, it will manifest in your physical well-being. The same is true for the other aspects of your wellness. Thus, if you really want to be health, you need to focus on your health in a complete scale. Keep in mind that just because you cannot see the other aspects of your well-being, does not mean that it is not important. Every aspect is just as important as your physical wellness.

In the same way, if you want to improve your mental, emotional, and social well-being, you also have to enhance your physical wellness. Overall, you wellness is affected by a variety of factors including the following:

* Lifestyle
Your routine, diet, exercise choices, activity engagement, and many other things which you decide for yourself that contribute or cause wellness or illness.

* Environment
The external factors are things with which you do not have full control. It can significantly affect your wellness.

* Genetics
Your body has a genetic makeup, which has a huge influence on how healthy you may be. You have no control over this. It is the reason you are susceptible to some diseases.

Indeed, a person’s well-being is a broad concept. People have varying beliefs regarding their own wellness. There is no universal method on how to protect and sustain being healthy but one thing remains true for everyone—and this is the fact that it takes effort to be healthy and it is an aspect of  person’s life that should be on top priority.
